Homeowners across the country are facing big prices increases, with some of them seeing the price of their latest kitchen appliances jump by hundreds of dollars.
The Times Of India reported on Sunday that the price increases of aluminium kitchen equipment such as coffee makers, saucers and ice makers are expected to hit the urban poor as much as 1,200 percent by 2019.
According to a report from the consumer advocacy organisation Consumers Union, the cost of such appliances will be about $1,500 higher in 2019.
The report also pointed out that prices of these appliances will rise by more than 2,000 percent over the next five years.
The cost of the items in question include: Coffee makers: Up to 8,200 paise for a 6-pack of 5-litre coffee maker.
