A brand new category of aluminium kitchen appliance has hit the shelves in the UK after a UK court ruled that it can be used in cooking and baking.
The kitchen appliance category was introduced in November to help make the UK more eco-friendly.
The company behind the kitchen appliance, Sainsbury’s, had to appeal against a High Court ruling that it was unlawful to sell the appliance to people in the country illegally.
Sainsbury had to pay around £300,000 ($435,000) in damages to the government, which had argued that the product was a form of food fraud.
The new category is called “algae”, and the Sainsburys said it had introduced the product because of the environmental impact.
Aluminium is the most common material in the world and is used to make products ranging from food products to cars.
The UK Food Standards Agency said in a statement: “Aluminium has the potential to help reduce the environmental impacts of our country’s food supply.
We’re proud that SainsBURYS has taken the decision to take action on this product.”
The company said it has since launched a range of products using aluminium and other materials.”
The SainsBrite™ kitchen appliance will be available in the autumn to our customers who are seeking a new cooking and/or baking appliance.”
The company said it has since launched a range of products using aluminium and other materials.
